Service Description
CLASS DESCRIPTION: Babble and Books is an SLP-led infant class designed for babies ages 0–12 months and their caregivers. Sarah Jordan from Little Monkeys Speech and Feeding Therapy will be leading us through our next four weeks together. Building upon the language and play foundations discussed in Babble and Books 1, we continue to explore topics related to your baby's development. Class topics may vary based on ages of enrollment and individual children attending the class. A broad overview of class topics is provided below. Week 5: Cause & Effect Play When babies discover their actions matter, communication grows. This session focuses on cause-and-effect play and how pausing, waiting, and labeling during play encourage intentional communication and engagement. Week 6: Sounds Before Words Babbling is meaningful communication. Caregivers learn how responding to early sounds and vocal play supports speech development—without pressure for words. Week 7: Gestures & Early Communication Communication starts before speech. This week explores how gestures and early signs support language development and how to recognize and respond to your baby’s intentional communication. Week 8: Bringing It All Together We wrap up by connecting all the strategies and building caregiver confidence. Leave with simple, sustainable tools—and the reassurance that you are your baby’s most important communication partner. You do NOT have to have taken Babble and Books 1 in order to sign up for this second class! All are welcome.

Note to Parents and Caregivers/Waiver: At Read Play Love, we recognize that accidents and unforeseen situations can occur during children's activities. As children engage in various play and learning experiences, physical and emotional challenges may arise. We all know incidents can happen: Children jostle each other, fall down, even land on each other. They spill things, get their clothes dirty and sometimes skin their knees and elbows. Some kids push, hit, kick, punch or may even scratch or bite their playmates while working through their emotions. Feelings also can get hurt without any physical harm. Even reading can become a “contact sport” when children are vying for attention. Despite careful supervision and the best intentions, children can sometimes act unpredictably, and occasional incidents may happen, resulting in these types of physical or emotional harm. By enrolling your child in Read Play Love programs, you acknowledge that such incidents may occur as part of the natural course of childhood development and agree you will not to hold Read Play Love, and its employees and volunteers, responsible for any negligence that might result in such physical harm, emotional distress, or damage to your child’s belongings. Additionally, if your child causes harm to another participant, you agree to take responsibility and hold Read Play Love harmless. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in ensuring a positive and safe experience for all children. By enrolling in the program, you acknowledge and agree to these policies.
