My Story

I'm Shannon O'Donnell and the founder of Read Play Love. I'm a proud mom of two wonderful boys, aged 3 and 9 months, who keep me on my toes and fill my heart with joy. I've spent the past 12 years as a dedicated special education teacher, working in a variety of public school settings with students of all abilities. My passion is teaching children to read and, even more, inspiring them to fall in love with reading. There's nothing quite like watching a child's face light up when they unlock the magic of a book.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education and a Master's degree in Special Education. I'm also certified at the Associate Level in Orton-Gillingham and have experience with the Wilson Reading System. My teaching approach is centered around making learning fun, engaging, and meaningful by incorporating sensory play, creative activities, and hands-on experiences that bring books and learning to life. Whether in the classroom or at home with my little ones, my goal is always to create an environment where children feel supported, encouraged, and excited to explore the world of reading and beyond!
